We have had reports from some iOS users receiving GeoFence warnings when using ClockOn GO.

This seems to stem from a recent update to Apple IOS (18.1), which has affected the device's ability to accurately pinpoint its location within the Maps application. ClockOn GO relies on the accuracy of the Maps for its Attendance functionality.

We have had reports where affected devices show a difference in where the user is standing vs where the Maps app places them. In some instances, this can be upwards of 50-100 meters.

Due to this, employees using the ClockOn GO "Geofence" feature may experience issues when the device reports them to be outside of the fence, as a warning message "Outside of the Geofence".

Actionable steps

While we await a fix from Apple, we have identified two ways in which this can be addressed
  1. Resetting the Device's location settings
  2. Increasing the ClockOn Geofence Radius

Resetting the Device's location settings

Some users have had some luck resolving this by re-applying the location settings on their device. This can be done using the following;
  1.  Navigate to SettingsGeneralTransfer or Reset iPhone.
  2. Tap Reset → Reset Location and Privacy.

    Reset Location and Privacy settings
  3. Type the iPhone Passcode and follow the on-screen instructions.
  4. Check to see if this has corrected the issue by opening the Maps app to observe the detected phone location.

Increasing the ClockOn Geofence Radius

An alternative is to increase the location geofence settings to allow for a wider area for the employees to clock their times. To adjust this, follow the steps below

  1. Within ClockOn, select the Setup menu, and select Locations.

  2. Select the Options button for the location to adjust, and click Map section.
  3. Adjust the Max. Distance setting, and use the Update button to confirm the settings once complete.

Note: Any changes to the GeoFence location and radius will only affect new timesheets, existing timesheets will remain with the previous settings.
